The focus is on the protection of biological diversity
The 26th international meeting of the professional advisory board of the Convention on Biological Diversity began on Monday in Nairobi with active Hungarian participation.
The question of the relationship between human and environmental health, the topic of biodiversity, synthetic biology, and the follow-up of the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal global biodiversity conservation framework strategy, and the development of the necessary monitoring system, are among the priority topics of the meeting.
The SBSTTA26 conference is taking place for a week at the African headquarters of the UN Environment Protection Program with the participation of nearly 150 countries and about 1,400 people
The purpose of the meeting is to formulate proposals for the next Biodiversity Summit, which will take place in October this year, during the upcoming Hungarian EU presidency. The proposals made here are essential to the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Conservation Framework Strategy and the preservation of the diversity of our earth.
The Ministry of Agriculture prioritizes the protection of biodiversity, and for this purpose the National Biodiversity Strategy until 2030 was created.
