Albertsons acts to open online experience to all
Consumers with disabilities may soon find it easier to shop on websites and mobile apps associated with grocery conglomerate Albertsons Companies.
Albertsons Cos. is launching an initiative to make its online grocery shopping websites and mobile applications more accessible and usable for shoppers with disabilities. The initiative follows a structured negotiation settlement between Albertsons Cos. and several visually impaired customers of the company’s store brands, including Safeway.
The company said it will strive to “substantially conform” to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.0 Level AA as its accessibility standard. WCAG is developed by a working group of the World Wide Web Consortium, an international Internet standards body, and aims to make websites and apps more accessible to disabled users.
