FM: The sheep population is growing
The sheep population is growing in Hungary year after year, and more and more people deal with sheep breeding – Czerván György Minister of State of the Minister of Agriculture said on Thursday in Mezőhegyes, on the handover of a sheep demonstration plant, according to the statement of the Ministry of Agriculture (FM) released on Thursday.
The Minister of State, referring to the data of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), reported that the number of ewes in Hungary was 811 thousand on 1 June this year, 21 thousand more than a year before. The growth in the sheep and goat sectors between 2010 and 2016 was 9 percent. Hungary is the fourth largest living sheep exporter in the European Union. (MTI)
