FM: the horticultural sector should be developed
The fruit and vegetable production should be developed and the proportion of producer organizations should be increased in the horticultural sector to 40 percent – Nagy István, Minister of State of the Ministry of Agriculture (FM) said. The government expects to spend 150 million HUF subsidy to the organizations for five years.
According to the communication of the Ministry of Agriculture (FM), Nagy István at the conference of the FruitVeB Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organisation and Product Board stressed that the horticultural sector is the most labor-intensive area of agriculture. It provides the livelihood of 300-350 thousand families, moreover, there is a demand for high quality products in the European Union. The government therefore considers the agricultural development of the horticulture sector extremely important – he said. (MTI)
