The capital’s spas welcome the public with film screenings and late-night opening hours in the summer
With the start of the school summer break, Budapest’s spas are welcoming guests with a variety of programs: there will once again be evening film screenings in the Széchenyi Bath as part of the Cinema Spa series, and from the beginning of July there will be a capital spa every day, open until 10 p.m.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Budapest Spa and Thermal Baths Co. (BGYH) highlighted that the company has joined the School on the Beach program, which was introduced last year at the initiative of the Hungarian Spa Association and addressed students and teachers during the school period extending into the beginning of the summer: between June 10 and 20, 59 groups chose the program in the Csillaghegyi, Palatinus, Paskál and Pesterzsébet baths or on the Római beach. This meant a total of more than 1,800 participants, they added.
According to the information, on Tuesday evenings in July, as part of the CineSpa – Immersed in Films program, a film screening will be held in the outdoor experience pool of the Széchenyi Bath starting at 9 p.m. The audience can watch A Star is Born on July 1, The Greatest Showman on July 8, The Pulp Fiction on July 15, and The Blöff on July 29. Guests with a Budapest residence card can enter the bath with a 50 percent discount from 9 p.m. and participate in the program.
In connection with the Night of the Beaches, the audience will be invited to the Pesterzsébet Bath with colorful programs all day long on July 26.
Those interested can participate in the traditional National Water Pistol Battle on August 23. The initiative was launched by the Hungarian Bath Association, which was joined by several baths across the country, including beaches maintained by the BGYH. In Budapest, the event will once again take place at the Palatinus Bath in Margaret Island.
According to the announcement, the fireworks on August 20 in Budapest can also be viewed from the top of the Rudas Bath on the Danube bank. During the summer, it is also worth trying the Panorama pool of the Csillaghegyi Bath, which offers a special view of Óbuda, the Buda hills and the Pest side – they added.
The BGYH will bid farewell to the summer season with a beach closing event at the Csillaghegyi Bath at the end of August.
The announcement also mentioned that due to the strong UV radiation during the summer, free dermatological screenings will be organized in several baths – including the Csillaghegyi, Palatinus and Pesterzsébet -.
