The “Adopt a Furmint” program helps the young Hungarian agricultural researchers
The “Adopt a Furmint” program helps the young Hungarian agricultural researchers by creating application and scholarship opportunities. The initiative was launched in conjunction with this year’s Furmint Year program – the Minister of Agriculture announced Tuesday at a press conference in Budapest.
Fazekas Sándor emphasized that the furmint is one of the most popular and oldest vine varieties in Hungary, which is the raw material of excellent wines. As an example he mentioned the furmints of Tokaj, Somló and the Lake Balaton. Good wine can only be made from good grapes, and the work of the breeders, the researchers, is indispensable – he said.
