Logistics in Eastern Hungary could flourish: even a ceasefire could have an impact
The Eastern Hungarian region, especially the Nyíregyháza, Debrecen and Miskolc areas, may receive a new boost in terms of logistics developments. However, the improvement of the Russian-Ukrainian war situation may contribute significantly to this, but the expected road network developments and industrial investments in the region may also support the recovery.
The war next door is currently characterized by unpredictability
In recent weeks, several unexpected situations have redrawn the short-term future outlook regarding the development of the Russian-Ukrainian war situation. Recently, the hope of an improvement in the situation has come within reach several times, but the recent meeting between Trump and Zelensky did not exactly move developments forward in a fortunate direction.
“The war situation in Ukraine naturally affects the development of the domestic economy, the shaping of market visions, and of course the expectations of logistics players. Peace, or at least a meaningful ceasefire, could also lead to an improvement in trade, and logistics players could see further potential near the Ukrainian border,”
– said Dr. Zoltán Doór, President of the Hungarian Logistics Association (MLE).
Even if significant progress in improving the situation does not occur soon, there may still be logistics developments and developments in the eastern part of the country, although they are expected to be at a different intensity. Logistics is a key sector of the Hungarian economy, and accordingly, we have already seen a number of significant investments in recent years, which also affected logistics in Eastern Hungary.
