Enlightenment against AIDS
On the occasion of the AIDS International World Day, the A-HA! National Sexual and Mental Health Awareness Program and the Durex held a sexuality education lesson at a Budapest high school on the first of December in order to raise awareness on the importance of responsible sexual behavior and the fact that with adequate information and appropriate defenses AIDS and a number of sexually transmitted diseases can be prevented.
AIDS is transmitted primarily via unprotected sexual intercourse (including anal and even oral sex), contaminated blood transfusions and hypodermic needles, and from mother to child during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding. The sex education should begin as soon as possible, because these days it is not uncommon that a young 13 years old is beyond first sexual experience. According to the International Sexual Wellbeing research of Durex only 28 percent of the Hungarian respondents were emotionally prepared for this step. However, 64 percent of the respondents in Hungary, did not use condoms or other protection methods during the loss of virginity to prevent themselves from HIV / AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases. Unfortunately, this does not change later, as only 8 percent of the respondents use prevention methods during intercourse.
In addition to school activity, Durex prepared with a global campaign for the first of December. At the largest community portal anyone can donate a condom to a local AIDS prevention organization by sharing an image.
