The hams of Pápai Hús Kft. have been admitted to the Hungarian Valuation Register
One of the most important food companies in the Western Hungarian region received an unusual award. The hams of Pápai Hús Kft., which is 111 years old this year, were included in the Hungarian Valuables thanks to the results of the Hungarikum competition. This decision is an important milestone not only for the company, but also for the local community and the entire country, which strengthens the place of hams as outstanding pieces of Hungarian gastronomic heritage and proves the professionalism of the products produced by the company.
Based on the decision of the Hungarikum Committee, the hams of Pápai Hús became an outstanding national value. This clearly indicates that products and companies with historical roots such as Pápai Hús and its hams play a significant role in local and national identity and are important values of Hungarian culture.
Entry into the Hungarian Valuables Register is an official procedure in Hungary, the purpose of which is to identify, document and preserve significant values at the local, county and national level. The heritage list includes products that are of great importance and have a decisive role in terms of domestic culture, either from a historical, natural, economic or other point of view.
The production of Pápai ham has a tradition of more than a century, which has been passed down and developed over generations.It is made using a traditional process, during which selected ingredients are treated with special spices and aging techniques to achieve a unique taste.Ham serves as an ingredient in many traditional Hungarian dishes and is an essential element of cultural holidays and events, so not only its production but also its consumption is important, strengthening national identity and belonging. On the occasion of this, the company, the local government, the local treasury committee and the member of parliament decided to apply for the Hungarikum tender.
