We are scared of foreign workers
At the end of 2013 the Randstad Workmonitor study revealed that Hungarians show a more negative attitude towards foreign workers than those living in Southern or Western Europe, despite the fact that Hungary is less affected by the influx of foreign workforce. Nearly twice as many of the survey’s participants think negatively of the appearance of foreign workers than positively – we learned from Sándor Baja, Randstad Hungary’s managing director. According to KSH data from 2013 there are 140,000 foreign nationals living in Hungary and their number has been decreasing in the last two years. The UK is the most popular destination for Hungarians wanting to work abroad: there 39 percent of the population said they like to work with foreigners and about the same proportion don’t like working with immigrants.
