AutoWallis oversold in retail in the first quarter and continues to expect meaningful growth
The AutoWallis Group’s Retail business had a strong start to this year, after increasing new vehicle sales by 16 percent, significantly exceeding the 7 percent increase in the Hungarian market. Compared to the same period last year, the number of vehicles sold by the wholesale business of the regional car trade and mobility service provider achieved a lower volume mainly due to base effects and the difficulties of sea transport. In the field of services, the number of service hours and rental events increased. In the current macroeconomic environment, AutoWallis is counting on sales data this year to significantly exceed last year.
In the first quarter, the AutoWallis Group’s Retail division increased new car sales by 15.9 percent to 2,424, while used car sales by 22.8 percent to 597 units. The performance is particularly outstanding in light of the fact that, meanwhile, the number of passenger cars put into circulation in Hungary increased by only 7.23 percent*. In the service area of the Retail business, the number of service hours increased by 6.1 percent to 47,763, at the same time, thanks to last year’s acquisition of wigo car sharing, the number of rental events increased significantly to 91,920. In Hungary, the fleet size of Sixt, operated by AutoWallis, decreased by 423 vehicles in the first three months in accordance with seasonal effects, at the same time, thanks to wigo’s fleet of 536 vehicles, the fleet size increased by a total of 113 vehicles to 3,678 (+3.2%). The 11 percent decrease in the number of rental days can also be considered seasonal, which, together with the reduction of the fleet size, means an improvement in operational efficiency.
