A reduction in the VAT rate for food was raised
The MSZP System Change also includes the reduction of the general sales tax (VAT) on food and energy, and the tax exemption of the minimum wage! program, which is an alternative proposal for governance, the socialist chairman of the budget committee of the Parliament announced on Tuesday.
Zoltán Vajda said at a press conference broadcast on the MSZP Facebook page that, based on their program, all food would be subject to a reduced VAT rate of 18 percent, while the VAT rate for basic foodstuffs would be five percent.
He added: the extent of the energy price explosion must be made bearable, therefore the five percent VAT rate must be restored for the universal service of electricity and natural gas, as well as piped and bottled LPG, as well as firewood, briquettes and coke.
