According to the European Commission’s (EC) calculations, due to the special treatment offered by the Irish tax authorities, in 2003 the corporate tax rate for Apple’s European profits was 1 percent, which reduced to 0.005 percent by 2014. The EC decided that Ireland must collect EUR 13 billion worth of unpaid tax from Apple. Dublin doesn’t agree with the commission’s decision.
