Digital knowledge, practical training and cross-border cooperation: these are the foundations of the “Improving the Quality of Training for Agricultural Entrepreneurs” project led by the Hungarian Women’s Union, which aims to develop women’s agri-entrepreneurship skills. The 18-month program is at its halfway point, and the results so far promise an encouraging future for young women in rural areas.

The Hungarian Women’s Union Association’s (MNU) ENAG project, which aims to develop women’s agri-entrepreneurship education in the Hungarian-Serbian border region, began on June 1, 2024. The 18-month program supports young women and female agri-entrepreneurs living in rural areas with modern training, practical knowledge transfer and digital tools. The project is supported by the Interreg IPA Hungary-Serbia Cooperation Programme, with a total budget of nearly EUR 197,000, of which the European Union provides nearly EUR 167,000. The project is led by the Hungarian Women’s Union Association in Hungary, and its Serbian partner is the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Organization “Foodscale Hub”. ENAG uses an innovative hybrid learning model that combines digital education with on-site practical training. Bilateral, cross-border bootcamps, educational materials, a digital learning platform and a mentoring program ensure that participants expand their knowledge and skills. The program also includes study tours, community forums and meetings of local interest groups. The primary target group of the project is young women aged 15-29 who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), while the secondary target group includes already operating female agri-entrepreneurs. ENAG attaches particular importance to cross-border cooperation, inclusion and the promotion of gender equality. The project concerns the counties of Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád-Csanád, as well as the Bácska region in Serbia. MTI
