Amazon stops offering Fresh home delivery in Germany
After seven years, US-based Amazon is to discontinue its Fresh food delivery service in Germany. The service will cease in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich on 14 December and will be replaced by the company’s partnership with Knuspr and supermarket chain Tegut.
The online retailer Amazon will discontinue its Fresh food delivery service in Germany. The company announced that the service will be discontinued in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich on 14 December.
After more than seven years of operation, the US company is giving up on efforts to roll out the service in Germany. Amazon says it will focus on its non-perishable food business in the future.
The group is increasing its focus on partnerships in Germany and is expanding its grocery business through a partnership with Knuspr home delivery service. Following the launch in the Berlin area, Amazon Prime members will be able to order fresh produce in the Rhineland-Main region from December.
Knuspr, the German subsidiary of the Czech Rohlik Group, will offer more than 15,000 products at supermarket prices. These include fresh, chilled and frozen goods as well as drugstore products.
