Only half the amount apricot has grown this year at the plantation of the Danubia-Frucht
Compared with last year, only half the amount apricot yield has grown at the Danubia-Frucht Cooperative, which is Tolna county's largest apricot plantation – the chairman of the Danubia-Frucht told MTI.
The decrease is due to the rainy flowering period, and the fact that the yield was outstanding last year and apricots do not have high yields in two consecutive years at extensive plantations – he added.
Most of the apricots are marketed in Austria, for both edible and industrial purposes. The early varieties were sold at 300 HUF per kilogram, later the price dropped last week to 150-200 HUF as the amounts of yield increased. (MTI)
