Inaugurated Nébih’s new animal house and high security research laboratory
Dr. Márton Nobilis, Secretary of State for Food and Trade Policy, and Dr. Imre Nemes, President of Nébih, inaugurated one of Hungary’s largest animals and a high-security (BSL-3) research laboratory in Gödöllő. Development was created to support domestic research. The facility will examine the pathogens of animal diseases and will test vaccine tests.
At the inauguration ceremony, dr. Secretary of State Márton Nobilis said that the latest development of Nebih will be decisive in domestic animal health and food production, as pathogens of significant animal diseases will be subjected to the animal disease and research laboratory. Vaccine tests will allow you to fight more efficiently with avian flu or African swine fever, for example. In addition, basic and applied research is planned at the BSL-3 facility within the framework of European Union applications. The Secretary of State emphasized: “The Zoo presented today is exceptional in Europe, closest to us in Germany, Italy and Poland. The developments launched as part of the real estate development concept continue. In the near future, a state -of -the -art client center will be set up at the Budapest site in Budapest to ensure that customers can serve their animal health diagnostic needs at one site and thus more efficiently. ” – said dr. Martin Nobilis.
Dr. Imre Nemes, President of the Nebih explained that the office operates three animal health diagnostic laboratories: Budapest, Debrecen and Kaposvár
Among the most dangerous diseases, he highlighted avian influenza and African pork fever. The former can process 8-10 thousand tampon samples per day in the Laboratory of the Nebih, while in the case of African pork plague, 3-4 thousand blood and organ samples are processed. This means about 2 million studies per year. Dr. Imre Nemes said: “Based on these numbers, it is clear that animal health requires a significant resource, which is why, in recent years’ laboratory developments, Nebih has paid special attention to capacity expansion.” In his speech, the President of the Nebih emphasized the significant professional success that, thanks to epidemiological measures, the presence of ASP has not yet been confirmed in home pigs. However, he has been present in the wild for years. The Zones and BSL-3 Research Laboratory, which has just been handed over, will be of great help in overcoming the disease. There is currently no vaccine in the European Union against ASP. Responding to this, the EU announced a research program in the Horizon2020 program, which includes the effectiveness and harmlessness of 13 vaccine records, with Spain and Italy in Hungary at the Gödöllő site.
