Baked goods are available at half price as part of Lidl’s national food rescue campaign
Lidl Hungary has further expanded its “Mentsük meg” food rescue campaign involving vegetables and fruits, and bakery products have now also been included in the program. Thanks to the company’s latest initiative, all 197 stores across the country can buy sweet and savory baked goods left over from the previous day’s sales, but still edible, assembled in unit packages of 2 and 5 pieces at half price. The goal of the supermarket chain is to further reduce the surplus of food, as well as to support its customers in this way so that as much as possible remains in the family coffers.
In March 2023, Lidl made the “Mentsük meg” food rescue packages available in all its stores nationwide, thanks to which fruits and vegetables that are no longer perfect on the outside, but still edible, can be purchased at an extremely discounted price, for only HUF 399. In view of the effectiveness of the measure created in connection with the reduction of food surplus and its popularity among customers, the supermarket chain is now further expanding its food rescue campaign, so in addition to the 3.5 kg packages containing mixed vegetables and fruits, leftovers from the previous day’s sales, but still edible, assembled into 2- and 5-piece unit packages sweet and savory baked goods can now be purchased at half price.
