Industrial gross out put increasing stoped
According to the Central Statistic Office in September 2008, the industrial gross output decreased by 0.7% compared to September 2007,the index adjusted by working days declined by 5.3%.
The volume of the production was higher by 3% in the first nine months of 2008
than in the same period of the previous year. The volume of industrial production in
September – according to seasonally and by working-day adjusted
indices – was below the level of the previous month by 2.5%.
In the first nine months of 2008, the
industrial export sales grew by 4.5%, while they declined by 2.1% in
September compared to the same period of the previous year. Two
manufacturing subsections gave almost two thirds of the export sales
in September. In the ninth month of the year, the greatest exporter
(representing more than one third in the export of manufacturing),
the manufacture of electrical and optical equipment had an export
volume decline of 9.5%. Contrary to this, the export volume of
transport equipment − the other significant subsection, giving more
than one fourth in the export sales of manufacturing − increased by
6%.
The industrial domestic sales increased
by 0.7% in the first nine months and by 0.6% in September. In
January-September of this year, the domestic sales of manufacturing
declined by 1.8% and by 0.2% in September compared to the same period
of the previous year.
In September 2008, the production of
manufacturing decreased by 1.8%, while that of mining and
quarrying (having little weight) rose
by 50.3% compared to the same month of 2007. The output of
electricity, gas and water supply was 7.6% higher than the level of
the same month of the previous year, on the one hand, due to the
increased energy consumption caused by cool weather, on the other
hand, because of the growth of domestic production substituting the
import.
The production of transport equipment
(giving one fifth of manufacturing) increased by 5.2% compared to the
same month of the previous year. The source of the growth was the
production of motor vehicles, because the manufacture of parts and
accessories for motor vehicles and their engines declined slightly.
There was still a remarkable volume increase in the manufacture of
basic metals and fabricated metal products (5.4%), as well as of
rubber and plastic products (3.7%). The production of food, beverages
and tobacco (representing almost one ninth of manufacturing) stayed
on the level of the same month of 2007. The output of electrical and
optical equipment (giving more than one fourth of manufacturing)
declined by 7%, primarly owing to an unfavourable tendency in export
sales. The greatest fall of this year till now was observed in
manufacture of chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibres
(7.8%), first of all due to a declining demand for plastic in primary
forms. Among the subsections, the manufacture of textiles and textile
products suffered the largest volume decline (25.4%).
In September 2008, total new orders in
the observed branches of manufacturing decreased by 4.6%
compared with the same month in 2007.
The volume of new export orders fell by 5.2%, while that of new
domestic orders declined by 1.6%. The volume of the total stock of
orders exceeded the level of September 2007 by 9.9%.
The labour productivity of industrial
enterprises with 5 or more employees was 3.1% higher in the first
nine months of this year than in the same period of 2007, besides a
0.2% decline in the number of employees.
In the first nine months of 2008, among
the regions of Hungary the industrial production increased to the
highest degree, by 5.5% in Central Hungary compared to the same
period of 2007. Falls were observed in Northern Hungary (1.2%) and in
Southern Great Plain (2.1%).
