Eurozone inflation hit another record high in February

The annual inflation rate in the euro area rose to a new record 5.8 percent in February 2022 from 5.1 percent in January, exceeding the 5.4 percent market expectation based on preliminary data from Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office.

Eurozone inflation breaks record in February
According to preliminary estimates, energy prices continued to rise the most, by 31.7 percent year-on-year from 28.8 percent in January. This is followed by a 4.1 percent rise in food, alcohol and tobacco prices after 3.5 percent in January. Prices for non-energy industrial products rose 3 percent from 2.1 percent in the previous month, and prices for services rose 2.5 percent from 2.3 percent in January. (MTI)
