In February, consumer sentiment in the euro area reached a one-year high
As expected, consumer sentiment in the euro zone improved to a 12-month high in February, according to Monday’s report based on preliminary data from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG EcFin).
In the euro area, the February value of the consumer sentiment index improved from minus 20.7 points in January to minus 19 points, which is the highest since minus 9.4 points in February last year.
The February value of the sentiment index was still far from the long-term average of minus eleven points.
In the EU, the consumer sentiment index strengthened by 1.5 points, to minus 20.6 points in February.
