Inflation growth was minimal in February
In February 2014 consumer prices were 0.1 percent higher than one year ago. Compared with January 2014, consumer prices rose by 0.1 percent on average. Groceries cost 0.2 percent more in February than in January. Seasonal grocery products – potato, fresh fruits and vegetables – became 1.6 percent more expensive. There was a 1.5-percent increase in the price of motor fuels. Compared with February 2013, grocery prices didn’t change. Cheese prices soared by 10.5 percent, milk’s price was up 8.9 percent, but flour cost 19.4 percent less and we had to pay 14.4 percent less for sugar. Consumers had to pay 8.1 percent more for alcoholic drinks and tobacco products. Services became 2.1 percent more expensive. Motor fuel prices were down 4.6 percent and we had to pay 10.3 percent less for household energy.
