Consumer prices in Romania increased by 9.31 percent in February
Consumer prices in Romania increased by 9.31 percent in February, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Friday.
The increase in prices decreased slightly compared to January, when the INS measured an annual inflation of 9.62 percent.
In February, food prices were on average 7.89 percent higher than in February 2025, non-food products by 9.41 percent, and services by 11.37 percent have become more expensive.
The prices of electricity (56.92 percent), coffee (25.82 percent), rail transport (24.40 percent), drinking water and sewage (17.21 percent), and fresh fruit (16.12 percent) have increased the most. The prices of potatoes (11.82 percent), natural gas (4.67 percent), beans and other vegetables (4.54 percent), and wheat flour (2.29 percent) decreased the most.
Consumer prices increased by 0.59 percent compared to January.
Since August last year, the annual inflation rate in Romania has continuously exceeded 9 percent.
