Fazekas Sándor: the pig sector has future
The Hungarian pig sector can be reneved with the involvement of market participants, and can reach the production level of ten years ago in terms of employment and production – Fazekas Sándor said at a conference in Orosháza.
Fazekas Sándor pointed out that the pig population declined dramatically over the past decade, the production is not sufficient for internal consumption, Hungary relies on imports. In June 2012 according to the statistics, the number of pigs was 2.9 million in Hungary, while in June 2002 it was five million. However, all over the world demand grows by 2 percent annually until 2020 – he added. (MTI)
