Fazekas Sándor: the target is to double the Hungarian pig population until 2017

The Ministry of Agriculture would like to ensure that the Hungarian pig population will be doubled until 2017.

In order to reach this goal, the ministry’s pig program provides a professional framework. For the implementation of the program 2.6 billion HUF is available – said the Minister for Rural Development at the Bicske-based meat plant of Spar Magyarország Kft. on Tuesday.

He added that the outlook is encouraging. After Prime Minister Orbán Viktor’s visit to Moscow an expected increase will occur in exports to the Russian market, and there is an interest for quality Hungarian pork meat and products in China and in the Far East as well – the minister said. (MTI)
