FAO: world food prices rose in October for the fifth month in a row
World food prices rose for the fifth consecutive month in October, rising to their highest level since January due to higher prices of grains, vegetable oils, sugar and dairy products, according to FAO data. Meat prices fell in October for the second month in a row.
The October price index, calculated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), rose 3.1 percent (3 points) to 100.9 points from September and rose 6 percent (5.7 points) from October last year. (MTI)
