FAO: world food prices rose for the first time this year
In June world food prices rose for the first time this year due to higher prices of vegetable oils, sugar and dairy products.
The food price index calculated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in June rose by 2.4 percent (2.2 points) to 93.2 points compared to May.
The FAO Food Price Index is a trade-weighted indicator that takes into account the international market prices of the five most important food commodities – vegetable oils, grains, meat, dairy products and sugar. (MTI)
