FAO Director-General: 90 percent of the world’s food production is given by family farms
Ninety percent of world’s food production is provided by family farms – José Graziano da Silva, the Director-General of UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) told MTI on Wednesday in Budapest.
The FAO’s Director-General also spoke at the World Economic Forum, that the family farms, in addition food production are producing so many other kinds of products, such as forestry and fishing products.
He believes, that there is no need to increase food production in general, but in areas where there is not enough food, such as parts of Africa and Asia. He believes that the family farms to be developed in these areas. (MTI)
