This is why chicken is on the Pizza Hut menu
A few days ago, Pizza Hut’s menu in Hungary was expanded with a new chicken offering. The sub-brand WingStreet offers three types of dishes: chicken wings, chicken breast strips and nuggets, which are not prepared in a lot of oil, but in the oven. The sauce selection, adapted to domestic tastes, includes cheese sauce, barbecue and sweet chili sauce in addition to the existing ones. The new chicken dishes will be available in all Pizza Hut restaurants, for local consumption, takeaway and online ordering. The speciality of the offer is the BBQ nuggets pizza, which is planned to be available on the menus for a limited time.
Domestic Pizza Hut restaurants entered the market with a new chicken offering from May 20, 2025, with the introduction of the international WingStreet sub-brand. Pizza will continue to be a defining element on the menu, but with the new dishes they will also make room for a dynamically expanding world of tastes.
WingStreet was launched in the United States in 2003 under the auspices of Yum! Brands, in response to the growing demand for chicken wings. Since then, it has appeared in thousands of Pizza Hut restaurants and operates in many countries, including England, Australia, and Romania. It is now being introduced simultaneously in the region in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. With this move, Pizza Hut wants to show something new not only to pizza fans, but also to those who are looking for lighter, more varied dishes for everyday use.
“Hungarians really like chicken dishes, so we decided to expand the menu with a brand new chicken offering – with flavors and preparation methods that are specifically tailored to the Hungarian taste”
– said Viktória Hubai, Marketing Manager of Pizza Hut
Fried chicken in the oven with cheese sauce, as Hungarians requested
The new offering consists of three main product types: chicken wings, chicken strips and nuggets. An important difference compared to the usual fast food chicken is that WingStreet chicken is cooked in the oven, not in oil. This was a conscious decision – explains Hubai – as there was a clear expectation from consumers that the new products should be “healthier, lighter”.
“It emerged as a clear customer demand that people would like to consume healthier chicken. That is why we do not fry it in a lot of oil, but in the oven, thus bringing our food closer to those interested in conscious nutrition”
– highlights the marketing manager.
