This weekend we can shop for those in need at Tesco
Between November 17 and 19, the volunteers of the Magyar Élélmiszerbank Egyesület will collect non-perishable food products offered by customers in 154 Tesco stores, which will be delivered to people with a difficult fate living in the vicinity of the stores. As a partner of Élélmiszerbank, the department store chain has joined the charity initiative, which has been organized regularly for many years, for the 14th time, and now also supports the operation of the organization with an amount equal to 20 percent of the value of the products offered in the department stores. This year, in addition to the sale of online donation coupons available until November 30, Tesco is making it easier to donate with pre-prepared donation packages in 10 stores, and donations can also be made via Wolt from 19 Tesco stores.
The weekend Christmas food collection campaign of the Hungarian Food Bank Association starts on Friday, which since 2006 has grown into one of the largest domestic events of solidarity and cooperation. In accordance with the practice of recent years, Tesco also joined the charity initiative, which runs until November 19.
“With Christmas approaching, we encourage our customers to think about those families in a difficult situation during the weekend shopping, who do not have enough food on their table even during the holidays. We are aware that the current inflationary environment forces everyone to save, but by working together we can help those in need a lot even by buying a bag of rice, a bottle of sauce, a box of biscuits or a can. We want to make things as easy as possible for charitable customers, so this year we also prepared a gift package, and in addition to the usual online donation coupons, we also made donations available through Wolt from 19 of our stores. We hope that as many people as possible will donate, and we will supplement the donations this year with an amount equal to 20 percent of the value of the products offered in the stores.”
– said Nóra Hevesi, head of communications at Tesco Hungary.
