This is how we can protect ourselves against inflation: these are now the cheapest products in stores
While we can still find products on store shelves that are still at their peak levels after the price explosion, there are more and more goods whose prices have dropped spectacularly in the past year. If we consciously choose from these, our wallets can also breathe a sigh of relief: we can save up to several thousand forints per month on our shopping – writes Pénzcentrum.
Against inflation with a conscious choice
One of the easiest ways to shop consciously is to not only hunt for sales, but also specifically look for products whose prices have dropped permanently. We may not be cooking a three-course dinner with these, but many of the ingredients are indispensable: butter, sour cream, margarine, flour or even cold cuts.
The situation is even more favorable if our income also increases at the same time – this way the family’s real income can actually increase, meaning we can buy more with the same salary.
These are the biggest price drops
According to the latest data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the price of milk margarine fell the most: it became cheaper by more than 30% in one year. Last year, a package cost 584 forints, now it is only 404 forints.
A similar decrease can be seen in the case of Parisian cold cuts: it costs 620 forints less per kilogram, which represents a change of -23.3%.
Lard also became significantly cheaper, the price of which decreased by -22.9%, currently hovering around around 578 forints. The price of butter also decreased: it became cheaper by an average of 10%, now around 525 forints for a smaller package.
Sour cream also fell: the price of the 12% version decreased by -11.3%, while the 20% version showed a decrease of -19.6%. Fruit yogurt has become cheaper by -22%, with a glass available for as little as 159 forints.
To the delight of many, pet food has also become one of the products that has become cheaper: the price of canned cat food has decreased by -16.3%, and dry dog food by -10.3%.
