Best-Selling Gifts: Electric Toothbrushes, Wireless Earbuds, and LEGO
This year, electric toothbrushes are a favorite, particularly the Oral-B and Philips models. Wireless earbuds are another top choice, with JBL, Apple, and Xiaomi leading the pack.
LEGO remains a strong contender, not only in the toy category but as a standout product overall. Shoppers are gravitating toward more complex sets, which appeal to older kids and adults alike. Popular sets include decorative models of famous buildings, flower arrangements, and car models. Plush toys are also in demand, with the capybara and cartoon dogs Bluey and Bingo topping the list.
Genius Program Offers Extra Savings
To simplify holiday shopping, eMAG has launched a special Christmas Market section, where customers can find everything from artificial Christmas trees to gift wrapping supplies. The Genius loyalty subscription further helps shoppers save on shipping costs.
“This will be our first Christmas where the Genius subscription program helps customers save on both product prices and delivery fees,” said Kinga Daradics, Managing Director of eMAG Hungary.
In the first two weeks of December, over 70% of orders were placed using Genius benefits. For an annual fee of 4,990 HUF, Genius subscribers enjoy:
- Free delivery to lockers for Genius-tagged items on orders over 3,990 HUF,
- Free home delivery for orders exceeding 8,990 HUF,
- Exclusive Genius member discounts.
Trending: Slippers, Perfumes, and Smart Devices
Non-technical categories saw a surge in demand for women’s boots, especially extra warm slipper boots. UGG boots are among the top 25 most searched products. Perfumes are also trending, with oriental, spicy scents being the most sought-after. Notably, 40% of the top 10 perfumes are for men, while women’s and unisex perfumes each make up 30%.
Smart devices remain holiday favorites, with mid-range smartphones from Samsung, Xiaomi, and Motorola topping the charts, alongside Apple’s entry-level iPhone models. Fitness trackers and smartwatches are also highly popular, with Xiaomi, Samsung, Garmin, and AOVO leading the category.
Air Fryers and Stick Vacuums Steal the Show
Household appliances are this year’s surprise hits. Air fryers are the absolute winners—19 out of the top 20 most ordered electric ovens are air fryers, with only one traditional deep fryer making the list.
Vacuum cleaners are also in the spotlight, particularly cordless stick vacuums, which account for half of the best-selling cleaning devices. Traditional vacuums represent about a quarter of sales, while wet-dry vacuums and robot vacuums each make up 10%.
Shopping on Credit: Phones to Car Tires
The use of credit-based payments on eMAG has surged this season, with a 2.5x increase compared to the same period last year. The most frequently purchased items on credit include:
- Smartphones
- Televisions
- Washing and drying machines
- Gaming consoles
- Smartwatches
Surprisingly, the top 20 categories also include laptops, refrigerators, coffee machines, and even car tires. eMAG’s flexible system allows customers to apply for credit across their entire online cart, rather than individual items.
eMAG’s holiday shopping trends for 2023 highlight the growing demand for practical and tech-driven gifts. The Genius program simplifies and reduces costs, while shoppers gravitate toward trendy items like air fryers, LEGO sets, cordless vacuums, and wireless earbuds. Cozy slipper boots and spicy oriental perfumes also shine as ideal Christmas gifts, proving that this year’s holiday season combines convenience with thoughtfulness.
