This was this year’s top destination among Hungarian vacationers
Most of those who took out travel insurance on Aegon’s website traveled to Croatia this summer, the average length of the trip was six days, according to the insurance company’s data. According to Aegon’s estimate, half of travelers already take out insurance in the post-Covid travel market. That it is worth being forward-thinking for the price of a coffee a day is also shown by the fact that this year, forward-thinking travelers also had to reimburse their urgently incurred medical expenses in many cases.

Croatia is the top destination
Croatia was the most popular destination among Hungarians this summer as well, but in addition to the Croatian Adriatic, many also chose Greece and Italy as their holiday destination, according to Aegon’s travel insurance data. About 40,000 people took out travel insurance on the insurer’s website than ever before, thus ending the most successful summer ever for online sales. According to the data, most people traveled by car, and most of them were applicants for the family plan. The average length of vacation was six days.
According to Biztosító’s experience, in recent years, mainly due to the coronavirus epidemic, the number of people who spend the price of a coffee or ice cream a day on travel insurance has increased significantly: almost half of travelers now belong to the foresight camp. During summer vacations, various small and large beach accidents, stomach upset-like complaints and car damage most often affect travelers abroad. Travel insurance therefore really pays off, which is also shown by the fact that a large proportion of people who took out travel insurance with Aegon used the insurance. Cases related to illness continue to be the leading claims (nearly 40% of all claims), followed by baggage-related claims (nearly 22% of all claims). Vehicle assistance was used by 18.8% of customers who needed help from the insurance company. 16.1 and 6.9 percent of injured insured persons received compensation due to accidents and coronavirus, respectively.
