This was one of the record-breaking dishes of 2023
There are many Hungarian records that we can proudly claim as our own, or that are special to us in some way. For example, we have the world’s largest postcard or the tallest Lego tower – at the same time, in terms of food, we broke another peak in 2023: more than ten million hot dogs were sold in MOL’s Fresh Corner network in Hungary.
Achieving this amazing number does not seem surprising if we look a little behind the data: The MOL filling station network is no longer just a gas station: physically, the network of the region’s market leader is one of the largest, with wide opening hours and convenient access for people. MOL wells have now turned into complex service centers where, in addition to quality fuel, road users can find an ever-expanding gastronomic offer and services, and the Hungarian Fresh Corner network is now present in the entire country with 70% coverage.
The popularity of the high-quality Fresh Corner hot dog is no accident, as the grilled sausage is guaranteed by Pick and the tasty sauces are guaranteed by Heinz, and its easy consumption during a car journey makes it the first choice for customers.
It was no different on August 11, a Friday, when the network sold the most hot dogs: no less than 39,189 in a single day!
