This crisis will be different – A comparison of the crisis caused by the coronavirus with the global economic crisis
The coronavirus epidemic is now on the verge of being over and some positive signs are already being seen. In China, for example, there are hardly any new infections and the number of new cases is declining and stabilizing in several European countries as well as in the United States. In many countries, the relaxation of closure rules is being introduced and mitigation has begun, but the pandemic is far from over. Roland Berger compared the current crisis to the 2008 financial crisis.
According to the consulting firm, scenarios with a four-week downtime have become unrealistic, rather the economy has been down for twelve weeks. In their analysis, they examine how long different sectors of the economy need to recover from the current crisis and what specific situations the state should provide support to alleviate.
