EY: it will be easier and safer to report corruption in companies
It will be simpler and safer to report corruption in companies based on the new legislation based on the European Union directive – the international consulting company EY drew attention in its statement sent to MTI.
It is announced: companies employing at least 250 employees have 60 days from the announcement of the law on April 12 to allow whistleblowers to report violations through an ethics hotline that can even ensure anonymity. Companies employing between 50 and 249 employees have until December 17 to do so.
The announcement explains: Hungarian companies employing at least 50 employees must find a solution so that employees and other stakeholders, including suppliers and subcontractors, can inform the management if they experience corporate abuse, such as human rights violations, fraud, corruption or even suspicion of cartels. The whistleblower must be informed of the status of the internal investigation initiated in the case within three months at the latest.
