Extra tax can hit the carbonated soft drinks in the U.S.
There is a growing demand in the United States, that the federal government should impose a special tax to reduce the excessive consumption of junk food and carbonated soft drinks.
According to a specialist; the turnover of carbonated soft drinks, would decrease by 8-10 percent if a special tax of 10 percent levied on them. In addition this kind of measure would be beneficial for the budget.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates that if 3 cents (6 HUF) consumption tax would levied on all 12 oz (3.4 deciliters) soft drink, in a ten-year period 50 billion USD revenue would occur – reports Világgazdaság Online.
