SZ. Variant plans to expand based on the export market
Sz. Variáns Kft., a premium packaging manufacturer in Debrecen, is planning an export-based expansion in the next one and a half to two years, with a new product range, the company told MTI.
János Szakál, the company’s managing director, explained that they expect a turnover increase of approximately 10-25 percent if their export market plans are realized.
The company is already present with its products in Germany, Romania, Slovakia and Great Britain, and exports currently account for about 20 percent of its annual sales revenue. According to the managing director, the planned expansion is expected to come from the new product range.
They are working on a product range that offers packaging technology solutions that will distinguish them from their competitors in Europe. They have the opportunity to do this because they recently purchased a laser cutting machine that is unique in Europe, and they have become capable of producing boxes printed with UV (ultraviolet) technology and with an extra surface – said the managing director.
With the help of the support they recently received in the Demján Sándor program, they will be able to put their Heidelberg printing machine using ultraviolet printing technology into operation by the end of the year – he added.
About 80 percent of Sz. Variáns Kft.’s sales revenue comes from the packaging of products available in retail, as well as rigid boxes and packaging for marketing purposes. They supply to the entire industry, including the confectionery industry, the porcelain industry and the electronics industry. Their services include design, graphic preparation, printing, surface finishing and packaging.
Based on the data available online, Sz. Variáns Csomagolástechnikai Kft.’s net sales revenue in 2024 was 1.7 billion forints and its after-tax profit was 138 million forints. Its net sales revenue in 2023 was 1.4 billion forints and its after-tax profit was 42 million forints.
