The number of Carpathian Basin agricultural scholarship recipients is growing year by year

For twelve years now, the Ministry of Agriculture has been providing a full-year scholarship to Hungarian students abroad who have achieved excellent academic results in their agricultural vocational training or higher agricultural studies in their homeland.

Oszkár Ökrös, Deputy State Secretary for International Relations and European Union Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture, presented the scholarships for the 2025/26 academic year at an award ceremony organized jointly with the Székely Farmers’ Association in Marosvásárhely. The program, conducted in close cooperation with Hungarian agricultural organizations abroad, is motivating more and more young agricultural professionals every year, and this year 61 students have already won a ministry scholarship – emphasized the Deputy State Secretary. He highlighted that not only in the motherland, but in all Hungarian communities, there is an increasing demand for young agricultural professionals equipped with modern knowledge who can meet the challenges of today. Moreover, among Hungarians abroad, the proportion of people living from agriculture is exceptionally high, which is why the national government sees the development of agriculture as a key element for prosperity in their homeland, one of the important tools of which is the scholarship program that has been continuously expanding since its launch in 2014 – concluded Dr. Oszkár Ökrös.
