Evie: the first electric van for home delivery from Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s is the first UK supermarket to test electric van technology for home deliveries. Initially using one 100 percent electric van – named Evie – the trial runs until May; then a second vehicle is added. Evie will make up to 30 deliveries per day from Sainsbury’s online fulfilment centre to shoppers in central and East London, where it will be charged overnight. This gives the van an expected range of 80 miles with a single charge.
