Annually one billion tons of food spoils, due to deficiencies in transport and packaging
While all over the world, food is getting increasingly scarce and expensive, tons of goods are spoiling, due to improper packaging and shipping – quotes Handelsblatt, the expert of FAO.
The expert of UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) told the newspaper, that it is estimated, that loss is between 20-75 percent, depending on the type of food, and it is more than a billion tons per year. The worst situation can be found in the developing countries, because 40 percent of the products spoils already during transportation, due to deficiencies in the packaging – reports ProfitLine.hu, after MTI.
