On an annual basis Romanian retail sales decreased by 12.3 percent
A record fall back occured in the Romanian retail sales in May, mainly due to the decrease of the vehicle sales. Food retail declined below the average.
According to the Romanian Statistical Office, on an annual basis Romanian retail sales decreased by 12.3 percent, which is the fifth monthly decline since the 9.7 percent decrease of April. The May decline was the biggest since January 2006. Vehicle sales decreased on the highest level: 44 percent on an annual basis. The food retail sector declined by only 4.1 percent. Behind the adverse datas the decline in incomes and decline in private consumption are responsible – reports ProfitLine.hu.
