Years may pass until the internal consumption can help the food industry

Domestic consumption will not change within four or five years – calculate the major food companies, so the low domestic market activity should be balanced with foreign market developments – Népszabadság Online wrote.

According to Kovács László, Chairman of the Board at Pick Szeged Zrt., an IMF agreement would bring development in the real sector as well, because it could reduce market uncertainty, and perhaps the government could invest more to competitiveness improving supports.

Kovács pointed out, that domestic consumption drastically reduced in recent years, affecting all manufacturing sectors, including the food industry badly. The crisis affected the costumers basically in the middle and lower income categories. This can be clearly detectable in the changes of consumption patterns.
