Eu’Vend Cologne: 300 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors expected
HUF 30 billion is spent by Hungarian consumers annually on food from vending machines and there are 35-40 000 machines in the country. The Eu’Vend exhibition is to be held in Cologne between 10-12. September. According to Peter Grotheus from the Cologne Fair, sales generated by vending machines show dynamic growth and still have enormous potential for growth. Eu’Vend is held once every two years. The last event had been attended by 5,100 registered visitors, of whom 40 percent came from 64 foreign countries. 300 exhibitors are expected to attend this year’s exhibition. The main topic this year will be the optimal positioning of vending machines in public indoor areas. Sales generated by vending machines were up by 5 percent in Germany last year, exceeding EUR 2 billion. Sales per machine averaged EUR 4,000, while the number of machines was 513,000. A total of 50,000 new vending machines were put into operation last year. This number is even higher (90,000) in Italy. In the Hungarian market, a very wide range of products is sold by vending machines. Owing to intense competition, prices have been falling for years. Many members of the Hungarian Vending Machine Association are expected to visit Eu’Vend.
