The number of nights spent in short-term accommodation in EU member states showed a steady increase in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year, the statistical office of the European Union, Eurostat, announced on Wednesday.
According to the EU statistical office, in the first quarter of 2025, guests spent 129.6 million nights in short-term rental accommodation in the European Union, booked through Airbnb, Booking or Expedia.
The number of nights spent in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 4.8 percent compared to the same period in 2024 and by 34.5 percent compared to 2023.

The figures for March this year showed a decrease of 8.6 percent compared to March 2024, mainly due to the Easter holidays, which fell in April this year, compared to March last year. The results for the first two months of the year helped to offset the seasonal decline observed in March, they wrote.
