Eurostat: Every twelfth adult in the EU consumes alcohol every day
Portugal has the highest rate of daily alcohol consumption, with one-fifth of the population – 20.7 percent – drinking on a daily basis, followed by Spain and Italy with 13 and 12 percent respectively. This rate is the lowest in Latvia and Lithuania, at only 1 percent. At the same time, the survey also shows that these two Baltic states have the highest number of weekly and monthly drinkers, at 31.1 and 31.3 percent. (MTI)
