Europol: Counterfeit products pose a threat to public health
Counterfeit products sold on the World Wide Web for health purposes during the coronavirus epidemic pose a threat to society as a whole, according to a report by Europol, the European Union’s law enforcement agency.
According to Catherine de Bolle, director general of the authority, counterfeit products – mainly medicines and disinfectants – do not meet quality standards, thus creating a “false sense of security” in consumers, when in fact they do not provide any protection against the virus. (MTI)
