European Court of Auditors: EU agricultural subsidies have not made agriculture more climate-friendly
According to the EU Court of Auditors, their examination focused on whether the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2014-2020 supported activities that mitigate the negative effects of climate change, from the three main sources – livestock, fertilizer and organic fertilizer use, and greenhouse gas emissions from land use. They also analyzed whether the CAP provided a better incentive for climate change mitigation activities in the 2014-2020 period than in the 2007-2013 period. (MTI)
