Europe’s Day in Commerce for the fifth time in Hungary
The National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers as the Hungarian member organisation of EuroCommerce organised the domestic Europe’s Day in Commerce on 3 November. László Herczog, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour opened the event, in his speech he emphasised the importance of the sector in Hungary’s economy. Zoltán Mester, State Secretary for Competitiveness in the Ministry of Economy spoke about working capital loans being available for retail companies from this year. László Parragh, president of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the government’s measures were insufficient to revitalise the economy. Sándor Demján, the acting president of the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers said that Hungarian retail was performing well and met western European standards in both quality and services. He told that it was not retail’s task to sell uncompetitive Hungarian products. In the round table discussion, many reflected on the growing expectations retail had to face and suggested setting up a high-level policy organisation.
