Day of European Consumers: the Hungarian Consumer Protection Act is under preparation

The European Economic and Social Committee draws up new guidelines to protect buyers. Although a sharp social debate has started over the definition of principles, most organizations agree that in order to increase the cross-border purchases the strengthening of consumer rights is essential.

Consumer Protection is an important issue also on national level, the new Hungarian Consumer Protection Act will soon to be released – announced Szatmáry Kristóf, Secretary of State for National Economy yesterday at the opening day of the Day of European Consumers. The bill will cover the strenghtening of the non-governmental organizations, the educating of conscious consumers and the training of entrepreneurs as well – reports magyarhirlap.hu.
